How might circumstances have changed if Silas had also been imprisoned in the lab Laz'ab raided when he found Aawari? Would he have killed Silas, or would he have taken them both?

Unfortunately, SWtOR!Laz is easily the worst and most messed-up of his iterations with hardly a sympathetic bone in his body. If he didn't outright kill Silas in the raid, he most certainly would take pleasure from his obvious distress, and recognizing a connection between the two Laz would separate Silas and Aawari on purpose, just to watch them suffer.

This led to many offshoot ideas, including how Aawari might react to Laz if he'd been the one to separate her from her brother--whether she'd grow up hating him, whether she'd eventually grow attached to her captor, or if she would simply feign affection for her own safety while slowly biding her time. There is also the possibility of Silas surviving, broken body and soul, only to nurture years of resentment, spite, and hate before tracking down Laz'ab many years later and unleashing his revenge, his body now a souped-up cybernetic tank capable of a face-off with a Sith Lord.

Aawari, now an adult, would have to choose between the brother who loved her and the murderer who raised her.

It's all very screwed up and even in her canon Aawari suffers greatly.

There is sadly no happy ending in the SWtOR 'verse, at the end of the day there is nothing romantic about manipulative abusers, childhood trauma, or mental illness.

Laz'ab's decision to "rescue" Aawari from the lab where she was experimented on had everything to do with her abilities in the Force, and nothing at all to do with pity or doing the right thing. She is a powerful asset he intended to use for his own ends, and while an element of attachment (or possession) might have developed later on, whichever way you slice it Aawari grows up in an unpredictable, unsafe environment where she is constantly in fear for her life, has all control wrested away from her, and needs to rely on someone else for her continued survival.
