Though Adana was born and raised in the secular Telvanni Coast along the northern edge of Vvardenfell, the mage spent the latter part of his life exploring Tamriel following a personal tragedy. Adana's travels took him all across the world and, while the initial plan was to keep to himself as much as possible, he soon found it hard not to immerse himself in the cultures and experiences of others and offered help where he could.
These adventures culminated in the discovery of an Argonian child in Black Marsh, the sole survivor of an Imperial attack that saw the tribe eradicated and their Hist tree burned to the ground. With nowhere else to go, Adana spirited the child to the safety of his tower where his (!!free and gainfully employed!!) workers helped him look for an Argonian family willing to adopt him. Of course, it wasn't long before Adana and the child were inseparable instead.
Now named Dahkem Magnu ('Ink Sun' in Dunmeris), Adana Hlaaril, his two childhood friends Lorana and Brisala Alithar, and all their helpers combined pitched in to raise the babe as best they could. Though Adana did his best to make sure Dahkem grew up surrounded by other Argonians to learn their culture, language, and history, Dahkem still grew up entangled in Dunmer culture and became the product of a rather eclectic upbringing!
The rest, as they say, is history.
